My Jewelry

What another hot day! Going to be in the 90's - whew boy! Now that might not be all that hot to many but for me living here in Los Angeles where we have the beach and mountains all within less than a couple hundred miles of each other, we're spoiled with some pretty awesome year-round weather.

I thought I'd drop a blurb about my jewelry-making venture. It started when I would admired the eclectic, beaded necklaces and earrings at the Santa Monica Promenade. I loved the colors and styles; they were so dainty, but I thought the prices were a bit beyond my reach. I even thought that they looked fairly easy to make, even to one who had never made a piece of jewelry. Fastforwarding, I came across a bead catalogue; ordered a book on basic jewelry making and the rest is history. Now I'm no artist, yet, but I think I make some pretty cute earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. I really enjoy the reactions I get when people see my new pieces in person for the first time. Additionally, who can't use a bit of extra money?

I support myself and my two wonderful, wonderful daughters who both attend college. So in addition to the fun of making jewelry, and the joy of seeing others enjoy it, every sale is very much appreciated. I'm excited about advancing my skills by taking a metalsmithing class soon. I don't know if I'm quite up to actually attending a class at a college; perhaps I'll try a DVD and see how that goes!
